We Ride – Empowering Life (Spanish Hardcore on Victory Records)
We Ride are a Spanish hardcore band that have been around since 2009 and have toured extensively with the likes of H2O, Comeback Kid, Madball, Bane, and many others in over 30 countries worldwide. For this Victory Records release they hit the studio in 2016 with Alex Cappa at Metal Factory Studios outside Madrid, and the album was mixed in early 2017 by Cameron Webb (Motorhead, NOFX). The 10 track blitzkrieg features Deez Nuts front-man JJ Peters on the track “What You Are.” Check out some tour dates and preorder link at the bottom. Gav gave it a spin.
When I was asked to listen to and review a new band on Victory records, I was a little apprehensive. I am a big fan of some of the earlier Victory releases, but in more recent times, my perception is of bands with pointy guitars, Iron Maiden riffs and screaming. So I was very happy when the new record from Spanish band We Ride kicked off. My first impression was of a Comeback Kid type hardcore, which is right up my street. But there is much more going on here, there are a variety of songs presented here, some fast classic hardcore songs, and some slower and more intricate. There is a good groove throughout the record, which goes very well with the passionate vocal delivery. The recording quality is top notch, it sounds like a good mix of old school with modern production.
Empowering Life will be available on April 14th, 2017 and you can pre-order on the Victory Records website
