SICK OF IT ALL CANCELS EUROPEAN TOUR FOLLOWING VOCALIST LOU KOLLER’S CANCER DIAGNOSIS
NYHC veterans Sick of It All has canceled their European summer tour to allow vocalist Lou Koller to begin treatment for a recent oesophageal cancer diagnosis.
The hardcore singer confirmed the news today (June 28th) via social media, posting a video to clarify the reason for the tour cancellation.
“The reason it is canceled is because they found a tumour in my oesophagus that goes into my stomach, and I’ll have to be getting treatment all summer,” Lou explained. “The band fully supports this decision; as soon as they heard, they said, ‘Forget the tour, just get healthy.'”
Lou expressed regret about canceling the tour, which was scheduled to include club and festival appearances from July 4th to August 3rd. He added, “Hopefully we beat this thing and see you at the end of the summer, or maybe the winter.”
Lou founded Sick of It All with his brother, guitarist Pete, in 1986. The band’s latest album is 2018’s Wake the Sleeping Dragon!
The Koller brothers recounted the history of the iconic hardcore group in their 2020 memoir (a great read during Covid downtime), The Blood and The Sweat: The Story of Sick of It All’s Koller Brothers.
We wish Lou, his family, the rest of the band and crew all the best.
