Skare Tactic
Bursting from the seams of the frenetic LA hardcore scene is Skare Tactic. spearheaded by a deep love for the staples of traditional hardcore (madball, agnostic front, sick of it all, etc.) coupled with a fresh grasp of the newer styles by such torchbearers as hatebreed, terror, and death threat, skare tactic has forged a blazing path of hardcore force and brutality that the west coast hasn’t produced in quite some time.
Give us the history on Skare Tactic, and were you in any bands before ST?
we all met in juvinile hall(in our teen years)i played in a pop punk band before st but went to alot of metal and hardcore shows. tim played in a band called third strike, before the real band third strike came out
What have you been up to recently? You’ve a split CD out with Commin Correct next month? And this is coming out on Thorp, yeah (Andy seems to be doing great stuff there)?
we’re really exited about the new split, i think it’s our best shit to date, the recording for our full length came out shitty but we still managed to about five months or so of touring a supporting the record and sell quite more that we expected.
And on the new release, did Keith do the vocals at home, under house arrest? Will this effect you touring outside the US in the future?
Keith actually made time to go to the studio without his probation knowing about it, he had a grace period of about an hour everyday before work.
Did you think that “Remember When” was going to be as well recieved as it was? You’ve alot to leave up to with the split!!
i couldn’t tell you that people would like it but it makes us feel good that some kids like our band
You’re out of LA, I normally don’t think of LA when it comes to hardcore (scene), what kind of a scene you got going there? Or do you have to tour a bit to play?
well the L.A. hardcore scene has grown quite a bit in the last few years. there are alot of places to play in L.A. but not alot of hardcore friendly venues. we’ll have a great venue one minute, then it will get shut down for whatever reason. the western states are bigger than eastern states so you have to drive longer to get to bigger cities.
we love being in the van. unfortunately we all have bills to pay and have to be responsible. if we could make a living at it we would be in the van 24/7/365. we have to save and plan for months to afford to go on tour. everyone in the band is long time friends and it makes that much more fun to tour. we argue over stupid shit sometimes but it gets resolved pretty quickly most of the time. we are no prudes when it come to the ladies on tour. we love playing live. i just wanted to jam with the homies some fast and heavy shit, and Keith can’t sing so it was perfect for us.
Tell the readers 5 facts about the band/members know one really knows (the funnier/more embarrassing the
better!)!
1) we love fat asses
2) 3 out of four of us are going bald
3) we have been around the longest as far as L.a. hardcore bands go
4) Keith has one eye (haha)
5) we will be around for a long time
Apart from the split, what else is coming up for ya’s?
we will going back in the studio next year to record our next full length on thorp and try to tour as much as possible.
Thanks for the interview guys, the last words are yours…
be honest. be there for the ones who are there for you. just because you get older doesn’t mean you can’t represent hardcore. if you don’t have heart, you aren’t hardcore. peace ….skare tactic, thanks for the chance to do this interview.
