Do Or Die
Born at the end of the year 1999 as a project gathering members of Stuck-Up and Instigate, Do Or Die is first of all a united family pushed forward by the rage and the desire to make itself heard. This family aka Bella Famiglia is composed of Nico and Luigi on the guitars, Jon on drums, Yvan at the bass, ad Chris and Alain at the microphone. Their powerful and aggressive hardcore has many and varied influences and offers the particularity to line two singers up within a single band. Despite its young age, Do Or Die is already well experienced and is made for live performances. The band is touring intensively, supporting bands such as Merauder, Length of time, Deviate or Madball.
Who does what in (and out of) Do or Die?
GREG – Singing by Chris, guitars : Luigi & Greg, drums : Phil
Chris owns a skate shop, Luigi works in a restaurant, Greg is a worker and Phil is an electrician.
Were you all in bands together/separately previous to Do or Die?
GREG – We were all in other bands before but it was not working too much… We took the most motivated to form Do Or Die.
You guys are from Belgium, but where does your Italian roots come from – I’m assuming from “The Meaning of Honor “, and your website, one of you must have some?
GREG – luigi & Greg are Sicilian and Chris is married to a Sicilian and lives constantly with Sicilians so he has pretty much an italian way ofthinking.
You guys are a fairly new band (as far as I know!), but from the sound of “The Meaning of Honor ” you’d think you had a load of realease out.
GREG – Quality of the sound obviously comes from all the time spent rehearsing, recording demos and a whole month locked in a very good studioworking night and day to get this “close to perfect” production…
When can we expect the next album?
GREG – early 2004.
How did you hook up with I Scream?
CHRIS – The boss at I Scream Records is a friend and my first band : Stuck Up was already signed on the label. I had a deal with him so I decided go on with him. He was also the first one to believe in Do Or Die – he signed us before he heard a single note of what we do !
Where was your first show and how did it go,..whats been your best show,…and your worst?
CHRIS – The 1st show was in France but I don’t remember the name of the town and I think we played the same set 3 times because we only had 4 songs ahahah. Our best show was at the Dour Festival last year – it was amazing, pretty insane !
We did not really have a “worst” concert because we always give all we have and we don’t ask ourselves too many questions.
Do you guys have any strange or funny stories of things that have happened while you’ve been on tour?
CHRIS – We could write a book with all the crazy and weird things we do every time we go for a show.
What’s your definition of hardcore?
CHRIS – a state of mind and a musical style.
What’s your 3 favorite albums?
GREG – Iowa from Slipknot, the new Chimaira and Malavita (Italian traditional music)
CHRIS – Master Killer From Merauder, all Mike Ness stuff, Malavita
What are your views on the whole Iraq situation?
CHRIS – The same shit every time there’s money on the table. Birds of prey want to take advantage of the situation. Imagine if religion conflicts are added to that, then it really goes mad… Personally I think they can all kill each other I don’t give a fuck about all this shit. Anyway we can say anything they do what they want to do in the end, we are just fucking numbers to them.
Describe a Do or Die show.
GREG & CHRIS – Every time we get up on a stage, it’s like we are going to war… We just act like it’s the last concert of our lives, it’s
the concretisation of all our work (rehearsals, compo)!!! Giving everything we have for the kids and for ourselves.

GREG – Record our album and play more and more shows in front of more and more people.
