Backfire has been one of my favourite bands for a long time, and probably the only band that I have every album they've released, 2000s "Still Dedicated" heavily played on my mp3 player, and one of the bands that introduced me to "eurocore".
Its been about 5 years since we last got something from the Dutch boys
(and it seems they've dropped their !), and with In Harms Way sees them
returning to their more raw hardcore (some NYHC in there), although
there is more noticeable metal edge to the music, but from the start of
opening track "Pushing My Failures Away", this is hard hitting in your
face and Pats vocals sound more manic than ever.
"Sams Song" would be one of my favs, having a more "traditional"
Backfire sound to it and a chorus that you know will have a crowd going
crazy! "Screaming for Silence" is another great one with Dries from The
Setup on guest vocals, a great fast fist in the air type song.
Stephen from Kickback also guests on "How Do You Like Me Now" and Dries
from The Setup. Produced by their own drummer - Igor, and mastered by
one of Eurpes busiest men too - Tue Madsen! And a nice little bonus of
Integrity's 'Systems Overload'. A great return to the scene, Maastricht
hardcore at its best.
