Bursting from the seams of the frenetic LA hardcore scene is skare tactic. spearheaded by a deep love for the staples of traditional hardcore (madball, agnostic front, sick of it all, etc.) coupled with a fresh grasp of the newer styles by such torchbearers as hatebreed, terror, and death threat, skare tactic has forged a blazing path of hardcore force and brutality that the west coast hasn't produced in quite some time.
skare tactic employ a relentless tour ethic and propel themselves as an unyielding self-promotion machine. skare tactic fulfill their touring goals and spread their hardcore reality to as many as will receive it. spring 2003 saw skare tactic's first U.S tour and the band was met with much praise and appreciation.
skare tactic deliver fast-paced hardcore with heavy and crushing breakdowns to ease the pace now and then. rough, aggressive, vocals, and calculated backing vocals laden with shouts and chants round off the impact that is a skare tactic song. and when the band plays live, expect an even more focused display of tenacious, unbridled passion and aggression, as these tattooed monsters absolutely destroy in the live setting.
We last spoke to you guys 2 years ago just as you were about to
release the split with Commin Correct, how did that go, what were the reviews
like, and did you get to tour it? I know you recently released "The Rage Within"
but did you guys get upto anything else? You released "The Rage Within" a few
months back. I havent heard it yet (well only the myspace stuff, but laptop
speakers just aint the same!!), so for those of us yet to listen what can we
expect - Skare Tactic, or have you added/tried anything new. Whats the reaction
been like? Do the lyrics deal with anything in particular?
the last time you spoke with us we did a tour with 25 ta life and another
one with ten crowns. the rage within is the newest thing we released since the
commin correct split, thorp couldn't put out trw so we put it out ourselves.
when we started writing the rage we didn't want to copy everything we wanted to
do a record that was heavy without closing our minds to new ideas as far as
riffs go. we have a new singer who actually used to play bass for die hard
youth. terrance wrote about things that went on in his life and how these thing
affected him, as well as the subject of the workaholic who never takes a rest
for material gain.
And this was realeased on your bass players label - Ghost Town Records?
Have there been any other releases on the label?
ghosttown records was started by me wanting to put out records for friends
bands, my first release was if it kills with the singer that later formed fight
everyone.if it kills broke up about three or four months after i put out the
record, so it sucked for me, also i put out pa's cdc which is good because
they're always doing shows.
Where have you been touring it? And how did those shows go? You are actually
playing a fews show at the moment, who with and how are/ did they go?
Describe a typical ST show!
we just got back from a month on the road, ca, az,nm, tx,ok,ks,ut, the shows
went really well in texas exept for all the fucking bugs and humidity.we did a
coule shows with fight like hell, death before dishoner, black my heart, hoods
blood stands still, we were out on our own and booked shows wherever we could.st
shows are either really good or really shitty depending on the night and city.
Have you made it over to Europe yet? Any plans to come over this/next
year?
we haven't made it to europe yet, we plan on touring japan in the near future,
because it's cheaper for plane tickets.
Whats happening in te LA scene lately, any new bands? You get to play
much in your city, or do you have to travel far for shows?
for as big as L.A. is there isn't many new hardcore bands.we don't play LA very
often.sometimes it's great and other times it sucks. L.a. is such a big city
with everyone and thier mother touring through here all the time, i think kids
don't appreciate bands coming through like they do in smaller to wns.so we
usally play an hour or more for shows.
What and who are ST's biggest influences and what do you guys enjoy listening
to?
we like everything from slayer to stiff little fingers, deaththreat, terror
Do you guys have any interest in politics? Who will you hoping to vote for
president?
we're not very interested in politics.i don't know enough about all the
canidates to chose. i am glad that bush will be out next year, and we'll hope
that the next jackass doesn't fuck things up.
Is Skare Tactic full time? If not what do you guys work at, whats it like
trying to get time off for a tour etc.
we aren't full time, we go out when we can afford it. touring is a hard thing to
do full time when you don't have moms house to come back to when things go
horrible.
Do you think the hardcore scene has become watered down, not what it was?
A place where style is more important than the scene - given all the
emo-screamo-haircut bands that get on music tv, and all the really great stuff
gets ignored? Alot of bands labelling themselves as hardcore these days I
wouldnt even remotely consider hardcore...
i don't know if it's been waterd down or not but it seems like kids are
hardercore than ever one year and the next year they just hop out of the scene.
i remember seeing throwndowns 5 year aniversery show and this chick just took
off her top and got on stage. it was funny cause everyone just switched thier
focus from throwdown to the titties, they were perdy!!
Whats your earliest hardcore memory! What music did you grow up on?
my first show was a d.i. show in 89 with walk proud, famous tea andi think
gutter mouth played. i preety much grew up on metal and punk.like pantera old
metallica, kreator, slayer, d.r.i, af, the exploited, etc.

Whats coming up for the rest of 2007 for Skare Tactic?
as far as 2007 goes we plan on having a good time playing show and making new
friends.
Thanks for the interview lads, the last words are yours...
thanks for spending your time with us.we hope to see you guys soon. whatever
you do in life... be passionate about it.
