"Invite Your Soul" is Zero Mentality's follow up to their great debut “In Fear Of Forever”, and while I wouldnt place IYS up there with the debut, ZM have certainly brought out an interesting new album.
And this is their first release since loosing guitarist to ex-labelmates Born from Pain. Zero Mentality aren't scared to start trying new things on this CD; on "Invite Your Soul" you will hear a mix of hardcore, metal and maybe even rock - interesting to say the least! The music ranges between cruching hardcore, to metal, but all the way through there is a fair bit of melody (especially n the guitars) and some really nice groove parts. There are plenty of changes in the vocal styles too, ranging between hardcore and a more traditional metal sound. Some of the songs have some great backup vocals giving some hardcore umph! Plus with kyrics being sung in German and English adds somewhat to the sound. Of course I prefer the heavier more hardcore moments, but due to the different sounds going on hear I reckon alot of people will dig this.
For me it took a couple listens to get into it, these German lads have certainly put out an interesting CD.... and quite a different sound to what I'm used to off GSR.
