Bobby Hambel, Born and raised in Brooklyn New York. One of the founding members of NYHC band Biohazard. His insane guitar work fueled the mayhem of records titled "Urban Discipline" on Road Runner Records and "State of the World Address" on Warner Brothers plus the self titled "Bi*hazard" on Maze Records. He broke new ground when he recorded Tales from the hard side and crossed up hip hop with hard core with famed Onyx for the motion picture Judgement Night. He left the band in the mid to late 90's for reasons that still remain a mystery .
Since by Man, Milwaukee's finest new-new-school-nutjob-hardcore! heroes, have a new album out now on Revelation. Their resident comedian (and guitarist) Brad, kindly answered our questions....
Knuckledust are one of the UKs longest established hardcore bands, all the members are the original members, they have a new album out "Unbreakable" on GSR, we got a few words from Ray about whats happening in the KD camp...
BANE's new album "The Note" is out now on Equal Vision Records, they are currently touring the UK, Joe grabbed vocalist Aaron Bedard for a short interrogation....
You are coming up on 10 years of Drowningman, including the "intermissions", can you give us a bit of history on the band, how it all started, the line-up changes, why you broke up, and how things got back together? We started playing together in Oct. of 1995, played our first show on New Years Eve. Yeah, the ten year mark is approaching- if you don't include the few years taken off to do The Scheme and deal poker. The initial break-up in 2002 was because we were trying to move in a more "rock" direction. I wasn't so into the resulting material. We had gotten some new members who I wasn't getting along with terribly well and there were things going on in our personal lives where for all these reasons combined it seemed like time to move on. I moved to SF to do The Scheme and eventually realised I missed playing heavier music, so here we are again.
You've gotten things done pretty quickly since your inception a year ago. Give us a run down on the band, its history, and how things got started? CJ: You can blame Munki Boi for that, he just mentioned it in passing about being on Gnarly Dude 2! and forming a punk band….
Give us a little history on the band for those out there that don't know you yet. We started the band in September 2002. Me, Raf and Benjamin had just quit our former band Thumbs Down and we wanted to do something new and different so I switched from bass to guitar and we asked our long-time friend Christophe to join us on bass. As a 4-piece we started writing songs without having a singer. We tried a couple ones, but we weren’t getting anywhere until we asked Dries from hardcore/rockband Circle if he wasn’t interested in joining us. We were all really surprised that he took the job and a couple of months later, we played our first show in July 2003 and since then it hasn’t stopped.
Bursting from the seams of the frenetic LA hardcore scene is skare tactic. spearheaded by a deep love for the staples of traditional hardcore (madball, agnostic front, sick of it all, etc.) coupled with a fresh grasp of the newer styles by such
torchbearers as hatebreed, terror, and death threat, skare tactic has forged a blazing path of hardcore force and brutality that the west coast hasn't produced in quite some time.
